The seminar was organized under the Honorary Patronage of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Poland and in cooperation with the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in Almaty (Kazakhstan). The seminar was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps of Kazakhstan: Ms. Ulzhan Galinova, First Secretary of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Poland, and Ms. Joanna Nasyrow, Director of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Gdańsk. Also present were representatives of Abai University: Professor Bakitgul Zhamagulova, Doctor Akerke Irgebayeva, Master Bibizhan Abuova and students. At the Seminar, we had the honor to host for the first time Ms. Tatiana Skaliy, Dean for Cooperation with Eastern Universities, representing the Kazakh Culture Center "Qazaq Eli" at the University of Economy in Bydgoszcz. Our university was represented by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, professor  Danuta Gierczyńska, Vice-Rector for Research, professor Dariusz Ficek, prof. AP and the Director of the Institute of Philology, professor Krystyna Krawiec-Złotkowska. Dr  Maxim Ponomarenko, the coordinator of the Centre, was a host and moderator of the seminar. 

 

Research papers were presented by students and academics from Almaty, Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Semej and Astana (Kazakhstan), as well as from Poznań, Olsztyn, Bydgoszcz, Szczecin, Łódź and Warsaw. The papers concerned the history of Kazakh-Polish relations, the activities of the Abai Kunanbayev's Museum in Sema, the presence of Kazakh literature in Poland and research on the works of Kazakh poets and writers, including the issue of their translations into Polish. The program also included talks on the cultural identity of Kazakhs.

 

During coffee breaks, the guests and participants of the Seminar had the opportunity to taste  Kazakh cuisine specialties and listen to the dombra played by a student from Almaty, Ulzhan Kaldybek, who is currently studying at our university under the "Double Diploma" programme.
